Who Are We?

In 1997, the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, Division of Mental Health and Addiction began the afterschool prevention initiative known as Afternoons R.O.C.K. in Indiana.

The acronym "R.O.C.K." represents the mission of the program to provide Recreation, Object lessons, Culture and values and Knowledge thru focused and supportive prevention activities designed to teach youth about social and media influences, conflict resolution and refusal/resistance skills, gang and violence prevention and the structuring of leisure time to be free of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.   more...

Program Evaluation Report

These reports summarize statewide data from analysis of process and outcome measurements as well as pre-test and post-test prevalence measurements from the Indiana After School Prevention Programs Initiative, Afternoons R.O.C.K. in Indiana, for the 1997 - current fiscal years.

This video which features youth from North Vernon Elementary School in Decatur County Indiana (DSA-Designated Service Area 12) shows how Afternoons R.O.C.K.in Indiana gets kids involved with all aspects of the afterschool program. Working with their local Afternoons R.O.C.K. program supervisor, Devon Brown who filmed short vignettes featuring messages about the dangers of smoking, marijuana and steroids the youth featured here produced, acted in and wrote three separate segments.
