All I do is (stay after school or go to ___________________) (Insert the location if the program isn't at your school). • b. Do your homework.
  • c. Check out some safe and fun internet websites.

What if I feel unsafe alone after school?

  • 1. Talk to your parent or the grown up that you live with about your fears.
  • 2. Create a plan for what to do if you get worried or do not feel safe.
  • 3. Have a "safe-place" that you can go to, like a public library, friend's house, relative's home.
  • 4. Always notify your parent where you are. If you leave your home to go to your "safe-place" make sure your parent knows where you are at all times.

Be a Great Friend!

Simon Says…..have fun! Kids who are in Afternoons R.O.C.K. in Indiana always talk about what a good time they have!

However, when you get into a fight with a friend it can be the worst thing ever sometimes. Here are some tips to help you deal with confrontations.

Clear The Air

You may not even recognize yourself when you get done! When you are in Afternoons R.O.C.K. in Indiana you learn lots of new things about yourself and your friends. You come out of the program with a lot of new skills and may even surprise yourself with how good you feel about yourself when you are done.

In every situation, everyone sees things differently and wants to do things their way. And it's normal for people to believe they are right, which leads to disagreements. Problems are never fun — but they can help you to have a good discussion and you can work things out. Clearing the air is the chance for you to talk out your problems with that person(s) that you may have problems with. It helps to solve problems and to take control of the situation quickly and easily, and stop them from getting out of control, or even violent.

You Have The Control

Hi-Yah! Afternoons R.O.C.K. in Indiana can be a part of any community location, including a Dojo, YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, School, Church or any other place in town that may be a safe place for kids to hang out after school.

If sparks do start to fly, you have the power to put out the fire. The next time you have an issue on your hands, don't explode or let someone walk all over you. Instead, convince them to talk about it and breathe calmly, nothing will be achieved if both of you are angry. If it isn't the time to talk then take your space and just wait it out and come back at another time.

Make the Grade!
